The Emotionally Effective Leader
Emotional Intelligence skills drive leadership performance. Daniel Goleman, author of “Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ” and “Working With Emotional Intelligence”, believes that individuals are born with a general Emotional Intelligence (EI) that determines their potentials for learning emotional competencies. The competencies within each facet of EI are not innate talents, but rather learned capabilities that can be developed and improved upon to achieve outstanding performance.
This highly experiential 1-day workshop helps leaders to learn more about their emotional intelligence, and how that is affecting their day-to-day leadership. Using the scientifically validated, EQ-i 2.0 Leadership report self-assessment, participants will see how they measure up on 15 areas of emotional intelligence. This information is then used to help participants develop their personalized development plan on four key dimensions of leadership:
Authenticity: An authentic leader serves as a role model for moral and fair behavior. A transparent approach commands esteem and confidence from employees.
Coaching: A leader who coaches effectively is seen as a mentor who supports employee growth. Employees are nurtured towards achieving their highest levels of performance.
Insight: A leader provides insight by sharing a purpose and hopeful vision for colleagues to follow. Employees are compelled and inspired to exceed goals.
Innovation: An innovative leader focuses on taking risks, spurring colleagues’ ingenuity and autonomous thought. Knowledge is valued and challenges are viewed as learning opportunities.

Intuitive Decision-Making
One of the critical skills separating good leaders from great leaders is the conscious use of intuition in daily decision making. In a Wall Street Journal article, researcher Dr. Gary Klein discussed the latest findings in corporate decision making. He found that great leaders actively call on their intuition to enhance decision making, whereas less effective leaders tend to rely too heavily on traditional approaches to decision making. And the practice of intuition extends beyond leaders. Anyone responsible for making complex decisions in a timely fashion can benefit from the use of intuition. Contrary to the teachings of traditional models of decision making, intuition is not to be avoided out of hand — nor is it appropriate for every situation. In fact, knowing when to say “yes” to intuition versus when to rely on logic or analysis is a key skill for managers and professionals at all levels. By learning to draw on more than surface facts and figures, it is possible to make better decisions faster. Everyone experiences intuition a little differently. For example, you may get hunches, which take the form of immediate knowing, a go-ahead or a warning signal, or a sense of urgency with action. You may experience intuition as a flash, maybe an image. On the other hand, all at once you may have a big-picture awareness or a realization. You may get any number of feelings that are your personal signal that something is not right or that you have truly made the right decision. Whatever the experience feels like, it comes quickly with little to no conscious processing of information. Identifying your own intuitive experience is critical to the correct use of intuition in decision making. Considering the pace at which today’s decision-makers must make decisions, the effective use of intuition is a key competitive advantage. As we all know, many factors separate the super successful from those who merely make the grade, but too many of those factors are personal qualities that can be difficult to change. One critical factor that is within our power to improve is the conscious use of intuition in daily decision making.
Founded in 1966, The Silva Method continues to be the most successful and effective intuition decision-making program in the world. Based on more than four decades of research, The Silva Method is a reliable way with proven results to make more use of the amazing untapped skills of your mind.
